Penny Dreadful Recap: The Devil You Know

22 June 2014 8:00 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

The following contains spoilers from this Sunday’s episode of Penny Dreadful.

Showtime’s Penny Dreadful certainly has its own share of patchwork monsters, but if Sunday’s episode proved anything, it’s that the real monsters look quite human.

Showtime Picks Up Roadies Pilot From Cameron Crowe, J.J. Abrams

18 June 2014 12:16 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Showtime is ready to rock.

The pay cabler has picked up Roadies, a comedy pilot penned by Oscar winner Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous) and chronicling the day-to-day life of a successful rock tour as seen through the eyes of the unsung background players – the crew members who help get the show on the road.

Crowe — whose Almost Famous similarly offered a behind-the-scenes look at touring life — will write and will direct the one-hour pilot (which in success will spawn a half-hour series), while Winnie Holzman (My So-Called Life) will serve as showrunner. »

Eye on Emmy: Lizzy Caplan on Keeping Masters of Sex Dangerous (and Why Season 2 Is Off-Limits to Her Family)

16 June 2014 2:40 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Lizzy Caplan is terrified — and she is very much hoping to stay that way.

As the female lead of Showtime’s Masters of Sex, TV’s erstwhile go-to gal for snark and sass took a big swing to portray human sexuality pioneer Virginia Johnson opposite Michael Sheen’s Dr. William Masters. The venture led the actress down strange, new (and yes, “terrifiying”) roads, yet she met the challenge every step of the way, and thus far has earned a Critics Choice Award nomination for her efforts.

With Emmy Award season on the horizon, TVLine spoke with Caplan about the joy »

WWE: Update On Daniel Bryan’s Possible In-Ring Return

27 May 2014 2:05 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

The health of WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan has been a huge concern for WWE ever since his neck surgery two weeks ago. As we have reported a number of times, the surgery was considered minor and based on new reports from F4WOnline.com, it appears as though he is going to return to in-ring competition in June.

Bryan was supposed to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Title against Kane in a Buried Alive match at Payback this Sunday. Obviously that’s not happening since Bryan is still out, but this new report states that the match is still scheduled to take place and the June 29 Money in the Bank PPV is where it will probably happen.

In addition to the likely match at Money in the Bank, Bryan is advertised in a dark match main event at the Pittsburgh Smackdown tapings on June 24th in »

WWE Plans For The Shield And Evolution At Payback

7 May 2014 11:52 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

This past week of WWE TV saw The Shield defeat Evolution at Extreme Rules and then the next night on Raw, Evolution returned the favor with a beatdown of The Shield to end the night. It was their way of saying that the rivalry isn’t over.

A new report from PWInsider has confirmed the plans that WWE is building to another showdown between The Shield and Evolution at the June 1 Payback event in Chicago.

What isn’t known at this time is what kind of match will they have. WWE could opt for doing another 3 on 3 tag team match with a possible stipulation thrown in like a Chicago Street Fight. If they did another regular match again it would feel too repetitive. We know WWE likes repeating themselves a lot, but if they’re going to build up this rivalry for another month then it would be »

5 Previous WWE Buried Alive Matches – Ranked Worst To Best

6 May 2014 1:10 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

The Buried Alive match is something that WWE started doing back in 1996. It’s a match designed for The Undertaker because as an Undertaker we’re supposed to think he buries people. Since pro wrestling is silly, we also have to think that he’s willing to bury people alive in the context of a wrestling match.

It’s hard to know if fans think these matches are popular because they really haven’t done a lot of them. There are just five of them that have been televised with four taking place on PPVs most recently in 2010 and one on Smackdown in 1999.

The idea behind the match is that you have to beat up your opponent so bad that you literally knock the guy out to the point that you can dump him in a pit of dirt set up by the entrance. In most of these matches, »

WWE Raw Review: 5 Things We Learned (5/5/2014)

6 May 2014 6:36 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

Extreme Rules 2014 is officially in the books, and overall it was a rather nice PPV broadcast. From the surprisingly good pre-show WeeLC match featuring Hornswoggle and El Torito, through the epic Shield/Evolution showdown, and the brutal Daniel Bryan/Kane matchup, Extreme Rules hit almost on all cylinders. And while it didn’t wrap up the storylines that they needed to move along from, it did provide for some great pay per view entertainment.

That brings us to last night’s edition of Raw. What a mixed bag of retreaded material and mid-card mayhem! It appears as though as we head towards the now-aptly titled Payback PPV, we are going to be in for more of the same: there are rumblings of a Daniel Bryan/Kane Casket or Buried Alive Match, Cena and Wyatt Part 3, and another Triple Threat Match for The Shield and Evolution. All are expected rematches, »

Batista To Stay In WWE But He Won’t Put Daniel Bryan Over At Payback

6 May 2014 2:13 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

Batista is staying in WWE but he won’t wrestle Daniel Bryan at the Payback PPV, reports F4Wonline.

Instead, WWE will run another Shield vs Evolution match, meaning Batista will be with the company until at least the first week of June. This isn’t the only Extreme Rules rematch we will see at Payback, Daniel Bryan will again battle Kane, this time in a Buried Alive match.

Batista’s unwillingness to work with Bryan has undoubtedly hurt the June pay-per-view. Do we really want to see rematches? No, fans are engaged by new content. Batista vs Bryan would have been a huge main event, two big name stars who would have delivered a high stakes battle. That was the match Vince McMahon wanted to do but Batista was negative on it.

Batista’s reluctance to work against Bryan led to heavy speculation on Monday that he »

WWE Plan Daniel Bryan Vs Kane ‘Buried Alive’ Match For Payback

5 May 2014 7:23 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

WWE are planning a Daniel Bryan vs Kane in a ‘Buried Alive’ rematch for the Payback PPV, reports F4Wonline.

Vince McMahon’s original plan was Batista vs Bryan as the Payback main event but with Batista unhappy and looking to take time off, the contingency plan for Kane vs Bryan was firmly put into place at Extreme Rules. Last night’s event featured Batista jobbing to The Shield and Kane sitting up after his loss to Bryan to close the show with his pyro and an intimidating stare. WWE booked this as the last scene because they felt it they needed that direction with another Kane match in mind.

The implication is that Bryan beat Kane, but he didn’t keep him down. With the Observer reporting that a Buried Alive match is in the works, the sell of the Payback main event will be that Bryan »

Exclusive Interview with Goblin’s Maurizio Guarini

8 April 2014 10:12 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Giallo films have been a part of our beloved genre’s landscape for decades now and it’s safe to say that one of the reasons these films have endured is due to their remarkable musical scores. Italian progressive rock band Goblin, who worked on such classics as Dario Argento’s Suspiria, Deep Red, Profondo Russo, Tenebre, and George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, toured the Us for the very first time last fall and is heading back to the States this spring for another incredible tour.

To celebrate their return, Daily Dead recently chatted with band member and iconic musician Maurizio Guarini about what fans can expect for this second tour. Guarini, who has been with Goblin off-and-on (mostly on though) over the last few decades in addition to working with other musicians on projects like The Beyond, City of the Living Dead and the original Patrick, »

'Lindsay': What did you think of Lohan's new show?

9 March 2014 8:49 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Just so that we know "Lindsay" (Sundays at 9:00 p.m. on Own) is not a trashy reality show, somber black-and-white text greets us to set the stage. On July 30, 2013, Lindsay Lohan ended her 90-day stint in rehab. Four days later, she began filming this show. About two minutes after that, she started a deeply sublimated quest to make her handlers, sycophants and slave labor intensely crazy by stirring up drama in the most mundane tasks you can imagine. I half expected to see Lindsay arguing with the coin slots at the laundromat, but we can all assume Linsday does not do her own laundry.  At first, though, it's the calm before the storm. Lindsay is looking for an apartment in New York City, so she drives from one location to another while her minions remind her what she's doing and where she is and one suck-up pal tries to »

Classic Goblin Horror Soundtracks Now Available on Vinyl

For most of you, I expect the band Goblin needs no introduction, since they're responsible for some of the most iconic horror film scores of the '70s and '80s – most notably George Romero's Dawn of the Dead and Dario Argento's Suspiria – but their influence on the world of horror movie music cannot be overstressed.     Seattle-based label Light in the Attic – whose eclectic catalog includes everything from vintage R&B, folk and reggae recordings to rare works from Iggy Pop, Roky Erickson and Public Image Limited – is now offering imported vinyl editions of nine Goblin records, representing several chapters of the band's amazing career.     LPs available now include the Cinevox issues of the aforementioned Dawn of the Dead (a.k.a. Zombi) and Suspiria, as well as scores to Argento's Tenebrae (not “legally” a Goblin release, but featuring founding trio Claudio Simonetti, Fabio Pignatelli and Massimo Morante), Profondo Rosso and Non Ho Sonno, »

WWE: 8 Embarrassing Early Gimmicks Future World Champions Want You To Forget

The gimmick – the character a wrestler portrays each and every night they step inside the squared circle. Sometimes the character is just an extension of who the person actually is. Other times, WWE creative can come up with a very elaborate persona for the wrestler to take on. Each person on this list went on to bigger and better things, and thankfully found a successful gimmick, because before then, they were given some difficult identities to take on. Every single superstar on this list went on to capture a world championship, but it is highly doubtful that they would have done so if they kept their former gimmicks.

Here are eight embarrassing early gimmicks WWE World Champions would like to forget. Feel free to join in the conversation with your own terrible gimmicks by commenting below, or by connecting with me on twitter, @HeisenGoldberg. »
