Kevin Bacon has shared many things throughout his career from fancy dance moves to the angle of his dangle, but the most important has to be the revelation made apparent by his long forgotten 1986 film, Quicksilver. What did that movie teach us you ask? Simple… movies about bike messengers are incredibly boring. Hollywood heeded that warning for twenty-six long years, but now the writer/director of Ricky Gervais’ Ghost Town thinks he’s figured out how to make bike messengers relevant and interesting again. The secret appears to be a combination of Michael Shannon and bicycle parkour (or bikour if your prefer). Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays the unfortunately named Wilee, a bike messenger in Manhattan whose latest assignment finds him pursued by a corrupt cop (Shannon) who won’t rest until he gets his hands on Wilee’s package. Check out the trailer for David Koepp’s Premium Rush starring Gordon-Levitt, Shannon »

David Koepp may be best known for his writing gigs - he's the man behind many of Brian De Palma's thrillers as well as Spider-Man and Spielberg's War Of The Worlds - but he's turning his hand to directing again with thriller Premium Rush. Taking a leaf out of his aliens' book, we sent Empire's news probe snaking into the Koepp basement and made him share some nuggets about his tale of bike courier Willee (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who ends up cycling for his life when he picks up a certain package. Think Collateral meets Breaking Away."I wanted to do a map movie about getting to a certain place at a certain time," says Koepp, "and a bike courier seemed a logical person to do that. Getting that feeling of speed moving through traffic was the whole challenge of the movie."Koepp's first directorial gig since 2008's Capra-lite romance »

Sure, "Diner" is a landmark movie, one that launched numerous careers (including those of Kevin Bacon, Mickey Rourke, Ellen Barkin, and director Barry Levinson). But is it really the most influential movie of the last 30 years? Vanity Fair seems to think so. According to an article in the March 2012 issue, "Diner" -- released 30 years ago today, on March 5, 1982 -- is indirectly responsible for "Seinfeld," "The Office," "Pulp Fiction," and "The 40-Year-Old Virgin." Such writers as Nick Hornby, Stephen Merchant, and Judd Apatow acknowledge its impact on the way they write scenes that others omit, scenes were guys reveal what matters most to them by chatting over coffee about things that don't matter at all. Like its trivia-obsessed characters, "Diner" is full of unspoken tales beneath the surface. Even fans may not know how closely life imitated art in the alliances, rivalries, pranks, and power games that helped make the movie »

The latest film from Edward Burns focuses on a couple, Buzzy and Katie (Burns and Caitlin Fitzgerald), who receive an unexpected visit from Buzzy’s sister Linda (Kerry Bishe). The fight-less chemistry of the two newlyweds is tested by Linda’s reckless behavior. At the same time, Buzzy and Katie witness the crumbling marriage of their two friends, played by Marsha Dietlein and Max Baker.
Shot for $9,000 and with a small group of filmmakers Burns defines as a “rock band,” Newlyweds is the tenth movie he has directed.
I sat down with Edward Burns for an exclusive interview in which we discussed my favorite David Lynch quote, his best cinematic experience, and the wise words about niche marketing that he received from none other than Tyler Perry.
Newlyweds is now available on video on demand (VOD), and also with Amazon and iTunes.
