Parents Guide for
The Black Hole (1979) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

None

Violence & Gore

Some human characters are killed but there is no blood in any of the scenes.

Dr. Durant is disemboweled by Maximillian. No actual gore is shown, but the action is implied when Dr. Durant holds up an open book to stop Maximillian's rotary blade from advancing on him. The blade first shreds the first pages it contacts, then Dr. Durant is shown in obvious distress from behind the ripped pages.

Profanity

There are a few d-mns and h-lls.

Characters drink wine during a dinner scene.

There are some intense fight scenes and the droids aboard the Cygnus can be quite frightening to children. Maximillian himself is an especially imposing figure.

In the Hell sequence towards the end of the film, Reinhardt's dead body floats towards the screen, and then his face suddenly appears in front of the camera. Shortly afterward, Reinhardt and Maximillian merge into one being.
