Pop the champagne and say congrats: It's Alec Baldwin's 55th birthday today (March 3)!

The native New Yorker and most successful Baldwin brother has been in the public eye for three centuries now, and has appeared in numerous movies ("The Hunt for Red October," "Glengarry Glen Ross," "It's Complicated"), TV shows ("Knots Landing," "30 Rock"), and on Broadway ("A Street Car Named Desire," "Orphans"). "The Good Wife" Recap: You Audra Be In Pictures

11 March 2013 6:34 AM, PDT | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

Man, did this week's episode of The Good Wife feel light, interesting, and lean to you too? Why was that? Hmm.

Oh, yeah: Eli's one-note descent into perpetual anger didn't even make a cameo this week. We got a break from watching our main man torpedo his own awesome identity with hapless mugging. That's a break we needed. No dumbfounded Peter antics either. Phew. We really needed that break.

The Good Wife felt renewed and revived as the Lemond Bishop case surfaced again, Alicia tangled with an old law school foe and a creepy lawyer, and some Cary-and-Kalinda zsestxy-ness came on strong ("zsestxy" is an obvious combination of "zesty" and "sexy," and I want you to deal with it).

Here are my picks for the five most notable moments of "Runnin' With the Devil."

1. Alicia had two kickass moments right at the start of the show. Can you name them? »

Who Shot J.R.? All The Details On Larry Hagman's 'Dallas' Funeral

8 March 2013 9:07 AM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

New York — Who killed J.R.?

That's the mystery propelling "Dallas" through the rest of its second season as a TNT revival.

And that question hangs heavy in the upcoming episode (airing Monday at 9 p.m. Edt), which confirms the sad truth every viewer knew was coming: glorious scoundrel J.R. Ewing has died, after decades of living-on-the-edge infamy dating back at least to 1980, when he was gunned down in his office and left for dead, with "Who shot J.R.?" the question on every viewer's lips for months afterward.

J.R.'s fate was sealed this time by the intrusion of reality. In November, Larry Hagman died of cancer at 81. And when he died, he took J.R. with him.

So the new episode – surely the first without Hagman's deliciously vile presence – stands as a fitting tribute both to him and to J.R., complete with a wake and »

Dallas Review: Who Shot J.R. Again?

4 March 2013 10:17 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

"The Furious and the Fast" featured events ending right where they began, in more ways than one.

It started with a standstill at Ewing Energies. Christopher and Bobby decided to play hardball. Bobby called in brother Gary and they terminated the lease that allowed the company to drill the oil on Southfork land. That oil seemed to be the companny's main source of income. It's what's keeping everything else running. Were they really thinking this would work?

John Ross and Sue Ellen threatened to sell Christopher's methane patent in retaliation, but they needed Pamela's swing vote to do it. In that moment, I really hated the fact that Cliff has so much pull with his daughter. Sometimes it feels like she has to run everything through Daddy.

I thought the race was silly... and I love racing. What did it prove exactly? Did winning a four car race really mean »

TV on Tap: A Reality TV Take on "Girls," Jennifer Hudson Thinks It's Time for "American Idol" to End and "Fox & Friends" Misreads "Downton Abbey"

22 January 2013 5:34 AM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

White Collar returns tonight. Neal needs to stop looking so hot when he's feeling distrustful,

it only encourages people to do distrustful things to him.

News

I've been watching the right try to claim that Downton Abbey is a conservative show. Jonah Goldberg wrote about it a couple weeks back and now Fox & Friends repeated that Downton challenges how "rich people... are reviled". Wow. That just says so much about how little they pay attention to everything. I'll be willing to consider that idea when Lord Grantham orders Mrs. Patmore to start using questionable ingredients when she cooks for the staff so that he can afford to have fancier wines with dinner.

Fox's ads for The Following broke a rule for television and asked viewers to watch the show on the DVR. Vulture explains what this means and how its another step in changing how viewers watch TV and how the industry responds to it. »

'Pioneers of Television' remembered: Funny lady Cloris Leachman tells how it was ... and is

15 January 2013 1:00 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

PBS' "Pioneers of Television" is back for its third season this month -- now narrated by one of today's busiest personalities in that business, Ryan Seacrest -- with four new episodes devoted to some of the most memorable moments and people in popular TV genres.

"Funny Ladies," which kicks off the run of new episodes Tuesday, Jan. 15, begins with the first female comedians to appear on television, including Joan Rivers and Phyllis Diller, whose final interview was for this episode. It also looks at Lucille Ball's breakthrough on "I Love Lucy" and the female sitcom stars who followed, including Mary Tyler Moore, Betty White and Marla Gibbs.

Cloris Leachman -- who is one of the funniest ladies in television history and is also featured in this episode -- speaks to the nature of being able to make people laugh versus more dramatic acting roles.

"Each one is important," she tells Zap2it. »
