DC Releases Complete #1 Solicits, Shows a Lot of Promise But Wastes a Little Space

13 June 2011 8:42 PM, PDT | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

Here it is. The full 52 titles that DC Will debut at the end of the summer. There are a lot of exciting new beginnings for old favorites like Swamp Thing and Sgt. Rock, and the whole lineup is chock full of some of the greatest names in the business. I’m a little disappointed that DC burned 11 of its new titles on the Bat-family alone. That seems a little bit of a waste. Especially since 4 of those titles actually feature Bruce Wayne/Batman in them. I love Bats as much as the next guy, but 4 titles? Really? I thought the whole renumbering was supposed to fix things like that.

In any event, here are the 52. I’m pretty excited all around. Let me hear your thoughts in the comments below.

American 'Being Human' Strives for Individuality, Retains Humor

17 January 2011 11:30 PM, PST | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

Remaking recent, popular and well-produced British series for American audiences can be a gamble but in the case of Syfy’s new offering, Being Human, the bottom line is: it works.

I’m still a little hesitant on the entire series, but the first hour of the much-touted, highly controversial American remake of the hit UK supernatural drama (and it is a drama) was well-paced, well-written and engaging, with a cracker of a cliffhanger. For those of you keeping track at home. Here’s a quick reference guide to the trans-Atlantic conversion:

Title:  Being Human (Us)

Setting:  Boston

Vampire:  Aiden (Sam Witwer

Werewolf:  Josh (Sam Huntington)

Ghost:  Sally (Meaghan Rath)

Nasty Vamp Leader:  Bishop (Mark Pellegrino)

Other Girl:  Emily (Josh’s sister)

Title:  Being Human (UK)

Setting:  Bristol

Vampire:  Mitchell (Aidan Turner)

Werewolf:  George (Russell Tovey)

Ghost:  Annie (Lenora Crichlow)

Nasty Vamp Leader:  Herrick (Jason Watkins)

Other Girl:  Lucy (George »
