Storyline
Plot Summary |
Searching for the lost world of Atlantis, Prof. Aitken, his son Charles, and Greg Collinson are betrayed by the crew of their expedition's ship, attracted by the fabulous treasures of Atlantis. The diving bell destroyed, a deep sea monster attacks the boat. They all are dragged to the bottom of the sea, where they meet the inhabitants of the lost continent, an advance alien race that makes slaves of the ship-wrecked sailors. The aliens want to rule the human world to create a Nazi state. Due to his high IQ, they think that Charles may join them. Greg and the team will need the help of Delphine, the daughter of a slave, to escape the city surrounded by evil creatures.

Did You Know?
Trivia | The film's original planned title was Atlantis. However, it was decided to change the title to avoid confusion with Atlantis: The Lost Continent (1961), so the title became 7 Cities of Atlantis. But then the TV series Man from Atlantis (1977) flopped, and executives did not want to associate the film with that show, so it became Warlords of the Deep. However, Columbia, who partly financed, thought this was too close to their recent hit The Deep (1977), so the title was changed again to Warlords of Atlantis. See more » |
Goofs | An open diving bell cannot go very deep unless it is pressurised. For an open diving bell it would require increasing volumes of air to be pumped into it. Without pressurisation, the air volume inside the bell would be compressed by the higher pressure water, causing the bell to partially fill with water. Eventually, as the bell continued to descend without pressurized air being supplied, the bell, and its occupants, would be crushed. See more » |
