Tim Conway and Chuck McCann have some hilarious moments in this nutty comedy about two bumbling cops in the American South who are assigned to go undercover in a prison to root out corruption. This modern-day Laurel and Hardy receive their assignment personally from the governor, who's the only person who knows they're undercover. But once they're sent to prison, as fate would have it, the governor dies, and Conway and McCann are stuck there. This sort of plays like a broadly comical version of "Cool Hand Luke," and there are a handful of laugh-out-loud moments: Especially when Conway pretends to be a dentist and ends up repeatedly stabbing himself with novocaine until his whole body in numb, and when Conway and McCann disguise themselves as a married Chinese couple. I laughed hysterically when I saw this film in theaters when I was 7 years old, and I still laughed a lot when I saw it again a couple of years ago. These movies are hard to find anymore, but if you watch "They Went That-A-Way and That-A Way" and 1986's even funnier "The Longshot" (with Tim Conway and Harvey Korman), I guarantee an evening of belly laughs.
