It's Superbowl. And there's a lot of drama, one of the players, Dave Wolecki, has been so preoccupied with the game and if his bum knee will hold out until the game, has been completely ignoring his wife. And McCauley, the team's star quarterback, is being courted by a management firm, and the man the firm has assigned to get him into the firm has been told that if he doesn't get him, he will be out. But that's nothing compared to the real drama. There's a killer running around. It seems that the syndicate doesn't want the highly favored Cougars to win. They tried to get the team's trainer to drug or incapacitate some players, and when he refuses he is killed. So, the team's manager has to try and find out who the killer is, before he does some real damage. Written by <>

The ultimate bad 70's TV movie.
6 June 2001 | by (Akron, Ohio.) – See all my reviews

Of all the bad 70's TV movies I've seen, this ranks as the worst: A confusing plot about football although no football is played, Dick Butkus, Tom Selleck, the dude from "White Shadow, That one lady, you know, whatshername, and of course, the SUPERDOME!!! Thankfully, this was riffed on "Mystery Science Theater 3000" back when it was a local show in Minneapolis on KTMA TV-23. Sadly, all fan copies of this episode are missing the final host segment (my guess is that the station had some technical difficulties at this point, therefore no copy has the final segment). Although the riffing isn't the greatest, it's decent for a KTMA and I really liked the host segments (Tom Servo writing to his "uncle" about the wacky things the crew has done on the SOL, all of which are told in fake flashbacks, except for one, which was from an actual episode), not to mention that's probably the only way you're going to see this movie, not that you'd want to see it without Joel & the 'bots. As far as I know this hasn't been released on VHS (the film not the episode) and it probably never will be. See it on MST3K, forget the original version, and enjoy.
