A Good Start to an Otherwise Bizarre FInal Season
voicemaster7131 July 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I love the Six Million Dollar Man Series, but I have no earthly idea why this 2 part episode was listed separately from the rest of the series. Sharks was a 2 part episode that kicked off the show's most bizarre, yet final season. I must admit, I liked Lee Major's late 70's hairstyle and I wished my hair could have done that when I was younger. But unfortunately, this look was a further departure from his image from the earlier seasons marketed on all the SMDM merchandise. The final season was kind of comic bookish and bizarre in terms of some of the stories. I imagine Lee Majors was ready to move on with his career at this point. But I will admit that the 2 part Sharks episode was fairly decent. An underwater episode with a woman who could control sharks in the ocean with a special device. And her father starts off as the main antagonist but becomes the victim and not so bad guy after all when his head henchman takes over all operations. Not too many episodes I'd recommend in season five, but of the few, I would recommend Sharks along with Dark Side of the Moon, Killer Wind, the Cheshire Project, Walk a Deadly Wing, the Return of Death Probe, and the series finale, the Moving Mountain. But beware, you will encounter weird episodes like Bigfoot V, Rollback, Just a Matter of Time and perhaps the single most bizarre episode in the entire series, the 2 hour Lost Island episode.

But give Sharks a try. This one I will recommend.

the Sharks beat the Jets

Since I also open up the IMDb entry on any Film that I am considering watching and more often than not find the comments useful and say so, I was amazed that nobody had posted one for "The Six Million Dollar Man: Sharks" as it appeared on UK TV yesterday. The Actors, Sets indeed everything seemed straight out of "Thunderbirds" except the Sharks all of whom except the baby one squeezed to death by Steve Austin were the stars so congratulations to the marine cameramen who captured most of their swimming shots including when they appeared to gnaw through steel cables at one pass. The opening sequence "we have the technology, we can rebuild him" was delightfully reminiscent but from then on it was all much as one could have expected except for the get out which was laughable - but still a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours so long as one is doing something else at the same time.

Sharks- part one

OSI has acquired a decommissioned nuclear submarine from the U. S. Government. Steve Austin joins the crew to assist in locating a lost tracking device. A team of pirates with an underwater hideout sabotage the submarine causing the entire crew to abandon it on the ocean floor. The pirates commandeer the sub with the aid of several trained sharks under the control of the pirate chieftain's beautiful daughter. Steve Austin is taken prisoner when he reenters the sub. Dr. Rudy Wells becomes trapped in an underwater vessel on the ocean floor after a shark bites through its steel cable tether. When it is learned that the pirates are loading a nuclear missile on the submarine, the naval commander assisting in the search decides to destroy the sub at the risk of killing both the bionic man and his maker.

Sharks under control, hijacked nuclear sun, estranged professor and his daughter heading a theft of a submarine, underwater cages - just that description alone makes me excited. An underwater adventure I definitely will love, and here this episode of part one comes across like a film - underwater cinematography is great. It's exciting, the plot wired up and the set pieces are fine. Looking forward to part two. Plus Pamela Hensley is just wow!
