Turbo Kid, 2015

Written and directed by François Simard, Anouk Whissell, Yoann-Karl Whissell

Starring Munro Chambers, Laurence Leboeuf, Michael Ironside, Edwin Wright. Aaron Jeffery, Romano Orzri, Orphée Ladouceur

In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a comic book fan dons the persona of his favourite hero to save his enthusiastic friend and fight a tyrannical overlord.

To paraphrase the producer of the movie, Turbo Kid is a fake movie from the 1980s made in 2015 and set in a post-apocalyptic 1997. Simply put, this is your new favourite cult film. It takes all the best elements of Mad Mad, BMX Bandits and Braindead for an 80s style gorefest that packs a major punch, but also a lot of heart.

Turbo Kid started out live in a similar vein to Hobo With a Shotgun, and the two are pretty comparable. The movie was originally submitted as a short for The ABCs of Death as “T for »

‘G.I. Joe’ Villain Cobra Commander Takes Over American City With Mayor’s Blessing

12 March 2015 9:09 AM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Where’s a Real American Hero when you need one? Cobra Commander just took over an entire American city. In a shocking turn of events, Springfield, Ill. mayor J. Michael Houston has given a key to the city to the dastardly “G.I. Joe” villain. Also Read: ‘G.I. 5 Classic G.I. Joe Storylines That The New Films Should Use

9 February 2015 1:31 PM, PST | | See recent Cinema Blend news »

The upcoming third entry in the G.I. Joe film series seems to be gaining some momentum. A new director, D.J. Caruso, is attached, and word has it that the series will essentially become an action vehicle now centering exclusively on Dwayne Johnson.s "Roadblock" character, who was passed the main hero torch in 2013.s G.I. Joe: Retaliation. While the apparent elimination of the collective ensemble spotlight might seem to imply that the series will now simply consist of scenes depicting The Rock laying the smackdown on computer-generated evil, it doesn.t necessarily mean that the team dynamic, or classic concepts from G.I. Joe.s 1980.s "A Real American Hero" brand ,won.t be present. In fact, the recent report that old favorites, Tomax and Xamot, the "Crimson Twins" might be showing up as the baddies this time around would prove that the franchise that taught us »

G.I. Joe 3 Will Focus On These Classic Villains

5 February 2015 10:29 AM, PST | | See recent Cinema Blend news »

It looks like the upcoming third entry into the G.I. Joe film franchise could see the live-action debuts of another set of iconic antagonists from the classic 1980.s "A Real American Hero" toy, comic book and cartoon lore. The latest rumor report is saying that the film will feature none other than G.I. Joe.s terrible twin twosome, Tomax and Xamot. According to the report from Film Divider, the yet-to-be named follow-up to the series. second entry in 2013.s G.I. Joe: Retaliation will have Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.s Roadblock tangling with the sinister split zygotes. It.s certainly not a rumor out from left field, especially given the state in which the lineup of the G.I. Joe rogues gallery was left after Retaliation was said and done. (Destro out of commission, Cobra Commander in hiding, mainstays, Zartan and Firefly definitely dead.) Clearly, the time has »
