Sex & Nudity

  • The film is about a romantic relationship between the girl Eva, age 12, and the adult man Paul.
  • There are several scenes of an adult man having coital sex with various adult women, one on one, with full rear nudity of the man and full rear and frontal nudity of the women. Some fondling and thrusting is visible. The scenes are short, in somewhat soft focus (as is the entire film), and strongly vignetted at the corners.
  • Eva is frequently seen scantily dressed and sometimes nude. In one scene she stands in a small bath washing herself completely naked while a man watches. In another, she is nude at the shore of a lake and stands facing the camera. Her whole body is exposed but the video quality is so soft-focus that nipples and the genital area are barely discernable. There is one very short scene in which her hand reaches inside her thick panties and masturbation is implied.

Violence & Gore

  • A short scene of war violence (WWI) shows soldiers shooting and being injured. Later we see a soldier being operated upon. These scenes are not bloody or gory.
  • A violently killed dead person is seen, with a minimal amount of blood.

Profanity

  • Little or none, as English dubbed.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Adult characters are seen smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol on a few occasions.
  • Drugs, recreational: None; one scene has a reference to a medical drug, possibly an opiate.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A character is seen on the verge of committing suicide a couple of times.
  • A death scene may disturb some viewers.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • Due to his war injury, the relationship of Paul to Eva is physically unrequited. On one occasion we see his hand momentarily touching her exposed thigh near her panties, but it goes no further.
  • As the film ends we see Eva in bed with a boy closer to her own age, partly undressed but with no visible nudity. Sex having happened or about to happen is implied.

Violence & Gore

  • We learn that Paul's war injury resulted in loss of genitalia.
  • We hear a gunshot and then see a character has committed suicide. Only a small amount of blood is visible and no gore.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A suicide is disturbing, but made less shocking by it being strongly telegraphed.
