Mile High Horror Film Festival

www.mhhff.com

Oct. 9-12, 2014

Littleton, Colorado

The 5th Annual Mile High Horror Film Festival was a twisted cornucopia of live performance artists, vendors, horror icons, FX artists, shorts, full length features, classics, and live industry panel discussions that drew the most rabid of fans. The repetitious problem of this particular festival is that it is structured in such a way it is impossible to see and do everything, leaving the most enthusiastic of attendees with nagging doubts and fear of “missing something”.

Opening night featured the original 1977 The Hills Have Eyes with all it’s glorious, non-pc dialogue. Original star Michael Berryman (Pluto) provided behind the scenes stories in an engaging Q&A session preceding the screening.

Hosted by The Alamo Draft House, Champion of the Independent Film Genre, Mhhff is growing in attendance every year. With over 80 films from 17 countries, »

25 August 2014 4:07 PM, PDT | FamousMonsters of Filmland | See recent Famous Monsters of Filmland news »

Let me tell ya, creeps, nothin’ gets the ol’ Xiii’s motor hummin’ quite like a fright flick that is more akin to a fever dream than one of yer more pedestrian linear narratives. And for my money (roughly equivalent to $1.32 Us cash and a third party, out of state, presumably bad check for $16.45), no one does it better than Director Dante Tomaselli! So, before we begin our regularly scheduled revoltin’ reviews (this week featuring Varsity Blood, Jersey Shore Massacre and The Possession Of Michael King) and other assorted jackanappery, let’s check in with ol’ Dante to see what bats stir in his belfry of the damned!

Famous Monsters. Since Famous Monsters is a monster mag of world renown (besides being a website full o’ great guys gals and ghouls), what putrid periodicals did you enjoy in yer frightful formative years?

But why should you attend? Well here’s out Top 5 reasons to attend McM Comic Con/Memorabilia Birmingham:

1) The Guests

As with any McM event, the guest list for Birmingham is packed with a veritable smorgasbord of actors and actresses from movies, television and anime. Plus for the more grown-up nerds there’s even an appearance from the odd glamour model and porn star!

Army Of The Damned Review

9 January 2014 8:05 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

I made a promise to myself that I’d review as many horror films as possible in 2014, so I started last night off by jumping on Xbox, pulling up the most recent VOD horror flick, and giving it a rent – like a game of cinematic Russian Roulette. The film I ended up with? Army Of The Damned, a film bringing together Sully Erna (lead singer of Godsmack), Candyman (Tony Todd), Joey Fatone (*N Sync/exploiter of fat jokes), Michael Berryman (Pluto – no, not the dog – from The Hills Have Eyes) and Nick Principe (ChromeSkull in Laid To Rest). If some of those names mean nothing to you, then you’re not a horror fan, and you’ve certainly stumbled upon the wrong review – or you somehow missed that wretched decade where boy bands ruled the universe. Either this cast was going to be supergroup-status awesome, or Frankenstein monster horrendous – but we’ll get to that. »
