Deadpool Live-Tweeted the Super Bowl and It Was Perfect

We reported yesterday that Fox wasn't going to air a Deadpool 2 trailer during Super Bowl 2018, but predicted that the Merc with a Mouth would have something to say about it on social media. However, Deadpool took it one step further and live-tweeted throughout most of the game and if you're a fan, you're going to love the results. First call out of the gate was a burn on Fox for being too cheap to shell out $5 million on a commercial to promote Deadpool 2, which is what we all anticipated.

Wade Wilson ran commentary throughout the game, even mentioning the coin toss and showing off a new coin with his face and rear end on them. He captioned the photo by saying, "Heads or Tails. When a coin looks this good, we're all winners." The jokes ran casually to general calls about the game and the sport in general, to some pretty outrageous anecdotes.

“Deadpool 2” is easily one of the most anticipated blockbusters of 2018, so a lot of fans were probably disappointed 20th Century Fox didn’t debut a brand new trailer during Super Bowl Lii last night. Fortunately, the Merc with a Mouth didn’t sit the Super Bowl out entirely.

20th Century Fox was doing some of its own marketing during the Super Bowl broadcast by having Deadpool live tweet the game. Naturally the character couldn’t stop tweeting about balls and his timeline got predictably filthy very fast.

'The Real Mvp': Flu-Ridden Pink Revered by Celebrity Fans for Singing Super Bowl National Anthem
Though she was under the weather, Pink delivered a stirring national anthem performance at Super Bowl Lii.

On Sunday, the singer braved bitterly cold temperatures as she took center field to kick off (figuratively) the NFL championship game between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles.

As the crowd inside Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium applauded for Pink for her rendition, many celebrities in attendance and watching from afar cheered the three-time Grammy winner on via social media.

Many praised Pink, who confirmed the NFL gig, in January, for her strength and resilience as dubbed her “the real Mvp

Meryl Streep in ‘The Deer Hunter’: A look back at her first Oscar nomination, the competition and the outcome

Meryl Streep in ‘The Deer Hunter’: A look back at her first Oscar nomination, the competition and the outcome
This article marks Part 1 of the 21-part Gold Derby series analyzing Meryl Streep at the Oscars. Join us as we look back at Meryl Streep’s nominations, the performances that competed with her, the results of each race and the overall rankings of the contenders.

Prior to 1978, Meryl Streep was best-known for her acclaimed New York stage work. She made five Broadway appearances between 1975 and 1977, including a turn in “A Memory of Two Mondays/27 Wagons Full of Cotton” (1976) that brought Streep her first – and to date, only – Tony Award nomination. Her sole big screen appearance was a small, albeit memorable, turn opposite Jane Fonda in “Julia” (1977).

Streep’s name recognition increased significantly in 1978. First, there was her much-heralded performance in the epic NBC miniseries “Holocaust” that resulted in an Emmy Award. It was her second-ever appearance in a feature film, however – and in a Best Picture Academy Awards winner, no

Roles Where Actors Portrayed Much Younger Characters

  • Cinelinx
New Year’s resolutions are a time to work towards a transformation of your body and/or your life. To honor these goals, this month we’re going to look at transformative roles in film. This week we look at some prominent examples of actors playing characters that are much younger than the actors’ actual age.

It’s one thing to mentally prepare to play a character in a movie or a play. It’s another thing to physically transform yourself in order to better identify with the role. Some transformations are only skin deep; extensive makeup or prosthetics may be sufficient to pull of the necessary look. Other transformations are more involved; many actors may take part in weeks, if not months, of preparations for a role. This can include intense training, specialized diets, and exhaustive exercise routines. The end result of an actor going through such a transformation

When Star Wars finally became the top-rented video of all time

Simon Brew Jan 15, 2018

In 1997, Star Wars finally overtook E.T. to become the most-rented video ever in the Us. The chart back then makes interesting reading.

I can’t tell you for certain if this is true, but it’s oft-reported that the last VHS release for a major movie in the Us was for David Cronenberg’s terrific A History Of Violence. The 2005 movie seemingly got that release in early 2006, and the VHS era all but passed with it.

It completed the takeover by DVD as the top choice for watching movies at home, a brutal destruction and takeover of the VHS format that had served the world since the late 1970s. And as we’ve discussed in the past, the death of VHS took the rental window with it. For people who are far younger than me, that was the months-long gap where you could rent a film,

Canadian Pub Owner Thrust into Spotlight After Being Mistaken for Olivia Newton-John's Missing Boyfriend
Canadian pub owner Wes Stobbe never expected to see his face in a magazine, let alone one where he’s claimed to be the Olivia Newton-John‘s boyfriend who is presumed dead after he disappeared on a fishing trip off the coast of California in 2005.

But that’s exactly what happened when friends sent articles that pictured Strobbe and his wife, Bridget, lounging in Sayulita, Mexico. The headline? “Olivia Newton-John’s missing lover Patrick McDermott found.”

Australian outlet New Idea first published the image, with the National Enquirer and other publications also claiming it as proof that McDermott faked his own death.

Ladies and gentlemen, here are the 12 Days of Christmas, movie style.

12 Drummers Drumming

There’s only one obvious place to go for the first selection of our Christmas congregation, and it’s not the Nick Cannon percussion classic Drumline. Instead we’ve opted for the Damien Chazelle film that should have won all the Oscars; Whiplash.

Memorable for the one it did pick

My 5: Pop Culture Moments That Shaped 'Conversations With People Who Hate Me' Host Dylan Marron (Exclusive)
Most people want to run away from comment sections and bullies (and the bullies in comment sections), but Dylan Marron isn't most people.

The New York-based writer and performer may be best known as the voice of Carlos in the beloved mystery podcast, Welcome to Night Vale, but as the host of his very own podcast, Conversations With People Who Hate Me, Marron is taking a break from fictional narratives to, as the title suggests, take on his haters.

"Online comment sections feel like a microcosm of our current political climate. As a writer and performer whose work exists mostly on the Internet, I would get a ton of hate messages and comments," Marron tells Et. "Initially, I wanted to just block out the negativity, but as I realized that (some of) these negative comments were opportunities for actual conversation, I didn't want to keep turning these people away from my digital front door.
