Unfortunately MCA/Universal decided to make this DVD the cheap way by recycling an old widescreen master which was made years ago for the laserdisc release. The result is a rather bad picture with lots of aliasing problems, compression artifacts and noise. In addition the contrast range was not optimized which leaves out a lot of shadow details in dark areas.
The soundtrack is also not very good. It is from the early Dolby Stereo era and has therefore only a few surround effects. Generally the frequency range is quite limited, which makes the dialogue sometimes hard to understand.
