A losing basketball team hires an Olympic gold medalist to put them on the winning track. However, when the team's old school major donor discovers the coach is a girl he tries to make sure the team loses so he can fire her for poor performance. The team however begins to win. Meanwhile a romance develops between the coach and one of the players.

"Coach" is an amusing slice of light late 70's sexploitation and that's about it. Cathy Lee Crosby is a real hottie and does a fine job in her role as the coach, but overall this film doesn't really stick out. "Coach" is pretty light hearted and enjoyable, making it a hard film to hate, but it's plagued with a few problems. The two biggest ones being that's its not sleazy enough and the jokes are kinda hit or miss. As far as the lack of sleaze goes, this film pretty much fails to deliver. It does have nudity, but is pretty light on the sex for a sexploitation flick. "Coach" is pretty PC and it's a real shame as this movie came out in 1978 before political correctness put a stranglehold on the exploitation film industry. And as far as the jokes being hit or miss, what else can I say? Although many of the jokes do work and are quite funny many fail. The best jokes tend to be located at the beginning and the end of the movie, making the middle seem stale by comparison. I can't be overly critical of "Coach" though because it's so good natured. Way too many teen sex comedies have a cruel edge instead of good natured laughs, but fortunately this film has none of that. Overall "Coach" is a pretty average film.
