Vincent Van Patten,
Officer Dan Shay was a married policeman in his twenties with the Los Angeles Police Department. Since he looked much younger than his age, he was very useful in undercover situations. He often posed as a student or a naive young man on the wrong side of the law. Keeping his head together at home was his cute wife Joanne and young daughter Cindy, while Sgt. Abrams was his firm police superior. Written by

original series pilots air 1974-75 a second season offering...susan dey as a terrorist
There was on the books and in brief footage of a trailer a season two pilot running 1-3 episodes featuring dan shay going to england with a prisoner only to fall in love with a british cop played by susan dey who turned out to be a IRA terrorist. Directed by DON TAYLOR, this episode may have featured MAREN JENSEN in a role. Cassidy and his character come from LA to england and feature culture shock as he gets emersed in a city and a people plagued by terrorism. I would have had to have wrote this but I did not. The cops in london bring cassidy out of the clouds and down to reality. Cassidys character is sent to london after helping stop a incident in LA a SLA pattern bus hijacking. The show featured his character getting more serious darker and smoking matches...a trick he picked up from the japanese and chinese once. The original pilot several featured performers from the PARTRIDGE FAMILY including DANNY BONADUCE (as a villian) in a story of him busting up a corrupt school system and students running a drug ring.
