Tarantino Xx Blu-ray Featurette – Robert Rodriguez talks Kill Bill

26 November 2012 6:40 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Quentino Tarantino recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of the release of his immense directorial debut, Reservoir Dogs. Tying in nicely with that anniversary is Tarantino Xx, a new eight-film Blu-ray collection that hits shelves in the UK today.

The box set includes all seven of the films Tarantino has directed to date (not counting the upcoming and highly anticipated Django Unchained, of course), with a brilliant addition in True Romance, which Tarantino wrote and the late Tony Scott directed.

With the box set coming out on Blu-ray today, we’ve got a great new featurette with Robert Rodriguez, with whom Tarantino has worked with many times over the years.

Included in the collection, Tarantino Xx, in chronological order, are:

Reservoir Dogs, True Romance, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill Vols. I and II, Death Proof, and Inglourious Basterds.

Tarantino Xx: 8-film Collection with Mondo Artwork on Blu-ray November 20th

In anticipation of the release of Tarantino Xx: 8-film Collection on Blu-ray this November 20th, 2012, check out the full interior artwork created by Mondo artist Ken Taylor. Stylistic, bold and unique, Ken Taylor add the same artistic flair to this boxed set as he has for so many of his Mondo poster designs, including this amazing poster for Drive (2011) amongst others. A fitting addition to a boxed set already so highly anticipated it could literally make some film buffs’ heads actually explode. For many, this may be a rare opportunity to own some Mondo art, even if mass produced, as original Mondo prints typically sell out within minutes, if not seconds. For many, it’s been a long wait as we’ve watched various Blu-ray editions of Tarantino films pop up in other countries, but not in the United States… ’till now. Tarantino + Blu-ray + Mondo = a very happy fan of cool cinema! »

Blu-ray Release Date: Nov. 20, 2012

Price: Blu-ray $119.99

Studio: Lionsgate

Reservoir Dogs

It has been 20 years since Reservoir Dogs hit theaters and created a new sub-genre of talky crime movies, and the Tarantino Xx: 8-Film Collection gathers all Quentin Tarantino’s  films in one high-definition collection.

The 10-disc set boasts films Tarantino wrote as well as wrote and directed, with the exception of the crime-vampire hybrid From Dusk Till Dawn, which he wrote with Robert Rodriguez (Machete) directing.

The Tarantino Xx set (get it? Xx, 20 years) contains these Tarantino masterpieces:

Reservoir Dogs (1992)

True Romance (1993)

Pulp Fiction (1994)

Jackie Brown (1997)

Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003)

Kill Bill Vol. 2 (2004)

Death Proof (2007, part of another Robert Rodriguez partnership, Grindhouse)

Inglourious Basterds (2009)

Tarantino wrote and directed all eight films, except True Romance, which was written by Tarantino with the late Tony Scott in the director’s seat.

Tarantino Xx: 8-Film Collection Headed To Blu-Ray

17 September 2012 11:41 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Selected by the man himself, Lionsgate and Miramax are set to release eight of Quentin Tarantino’s films in a (pretty much) complete Blu-ray collection. Celebrating 20 years of the director’s career, Tarantino Xx will feature Reservoir Dogs, True Romance, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Death Proof and Inglorious Basterds. Five hours of previously unseen bonus footage accompany the films, including a critic’s retrospective of Tarantino’s two decades in cinema.

Like many fans, I’m disappointed by the absence of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair but this is still a pretty solid box set. The collection will hit shelves in the Us on November 20th with a UK release date to be confirmed. Check out the artwork designed by Mondo below, as well as the complete summary of all special features:

20 Years of Tarantino films hit Blu-Ray in ‘Tarantino Xx’

17 September 2012 8:33 AM, PDT | Destroy the Brain | See recent Destroy the Brain news »

Whether you love him or hate him, there is no doubt that Quentin Tarantino is a filmmaker that has definitely changed the language of cinema. Factor in that for the most part, Tarantino has directed all of his films via one company also makes it easier for a company like Lionsgate to publish a collection of his films celebrating his existence in film. Lionsgate will be re-releasing his 8 groundbreaking films on Blu-Ray in one very attractive set featuring a cover by Mondo by Ken Taylor. While this is definitely a double dip for some if not all Blu-Ray collectors, the fact that it is all in one package should attract you to make a purchase in the 8 film collection. I’m even missing some of his films on Blu-Ray so this set is still worth it to me. Read below for the press release.
