Molly is a young woman who was adopted into a wealthy Swedish family. The story opens with Molly and her step-sister Eva arriving on the Riviera, where they're staying with family friends. Molly needs some time away from her step-brothers -- with whom she is romantically, and perhaps hopelessly, entangled.

Much of the film is told in flashback, as Molly relates the story of her nave infatuation with her step-brother, Peter. We pick up on the back-story with the arrival of the openly promiscuous Lady Fleming, with whom Molly's step-brothers Peter and Robin are smitten, as is her step-father, Mauritz.

Molly and Eva carry on an innocent love affair with one another, as they play voyeur to the scandalous goings-on in their household. Although Molly is blindly in love with her step-brother Peter, he eventually convinces her to marry his younger brother, Robin, claiming he is unworthy. Robin, who worships Molly, is nonetheless a sexual basket case -- only able to perform under deviant circumstances.

Molly eventually decides she must return to Sweden for the wedding -- which leads to a disastrous wedding night. Robin, unable to consummate the marriage with Molly, finds love in the arms of his soul-mate Linda, while Molly starts a new life with her beloved Peter.
