David Banner, a research scientist who is haunted by the death of his wife whom he couldn't save in a car accident is researching how to tap the hidden reserves of incredible strength all humans have. While investigating episodes of people who have displayed such strength under times of great stress, he discovers that each one coincided with a solar flare spike of gamma radiation. Convinced by the link, Banner decides to put it to the test when he deliberately doses himself with gamma radiation. Unknown to him however, the machine was modified to give a far higher dose than he anticipated. While there was no immediate effect, that soon changes when on the way home, he forced to change a tire in the rain. He injures himself and the result anger and frustration transforms him into a massively powerful green giant, the Hulk. He eventually changes back and, now he must investigate what did this thing and face the consequences. Written by Kenneth Chisholm <>

After he received the massive dose of radiation, as David was driving home he had a flat by running over something in the road. the first look at the tire and wheel there is no hubcap, then after getting the jack and spare and jacking the car, there is a hubcap. also, when the Hulk starts beating the car, windshield and door glass do not break like that, they broke like plate glass and not safety or auto glass. Why Were There Chemicals In The Lab ?
6 January 2009 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I love this episode of course.

But I do have to wonder, the explosion took place in a lab that was equipped with a pressure chamber and was supposedly for oceanographic type research.

So why did it have such volatile chemicals without any sort of safety protocols ? Obviously the answer is that without the chemicals there wouldn't be an explosion, but it would not really make much sense for this type of lab to have such a chemical supply (indeed in most cases they have separate storage).

A fun episode but I have always wondered.
