When this Australian film was originally classified by the Australian Censor, the Film Classification Board, it was rated R (adults 18+ and over only admitted). An appeal was lodged, and a situation resulted where the film was rated M (recommended for ages 15+) in the Australian states of Victoria and New South Wales but remained with an R rating in all the other Australian states. This was because the Australian states of Tasmania, South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia objected to the film's strong use of language and sex and as such exercised their overrule rights of the Commonwealth Censor's decision and upheld its R certificate classification. When this film was re-submitted for national Australian classification for home video-cassette release in 1985 and again for DVD release in 2005, the film has been rated M both times.
