A woman stops to look at the apartment building. Mr Furley & Marsha flirt and start dating. After a few weeks, the trio wonder why she is interested in Furley. They think she wants his money. Turns out she wants to buy the building.

Janet has had problems lately. Her company has sent efficiency expert Bobbi Willard to her floral shop to monitor and critique her performance. It has been driving Janet crazy as she sees it as nitpicking. It doesn't help matters when Jack takes Bobbi out for lunch either. Janet finally has enough so she quits. With the help of Mr. Furley, Terri hatches a plan to get Janet's job back and Bobbi out of her life.

Jack's friend asks Jack to be a substitute chef for a few days. Even though Jack was fired from Angelinos, he agrees. A mobster eats at the restaurant and enjoys Jack's food. The mobster insists Jack be hired and the other chef fired.

Jack meets a beautiful woman who also happens to be rich. They continue to date for weeks and Jack is smitten. Denise has plans to mold him into the perfect man with dress, actions, and a new career for her spouse.

Jack prepares poached salmon on a television show with Janet and Terri as assistants. On the day of filming, the director changes the layout of the kitchen without telling Jack. Jack cannot find anything in the kitchen and the girls are no help.

Janet not having dated much recently,buys a blonde wig because she says that guys usually notice blonde first. Jack and Terri try to talk her out of wearing it and just be herself. She doesn't listen but does end up meeting a man named Bill who's truly impressed by her. Meanwhile Jack & Terri try to think of a way to get Janet to come to her senses. The wig seems to take over as Janet begins behaving like a stereo-typical dumb blonde around Bill. Will the real Janet stand up or be lost?

Janet is interested in a very well to do man and gets invited to a private party on a small island and will be flown there. She asks Jack to go with her but Jacks afraid to fly. He (foolishly) takes a tranquilizer but drinks at the party as well. A drink called "The Rocket". Along with lying about his profession,he later dances up a storm,making himself & Janet look bad.

Season 7, Episode 1: A Night Not to Remember

28 September 1982
Janet's boyfriend cannot go on a business date with her and her boss, so she asks Jack. Jack has a cold, and drinks and cold medicine do not mix. In the morning, Jack wakes up in Janet's bed, and neither of them remembers what happened.

Season 7, Episode 2: Jack Goes to the Dentist

12 October 1982
Terri's seeing a dentist but wants to break up with him but can't seem to be able to do it. Jack has a toothache so Terri arranges for the guy she's seeing to see Jack but he's so terrified. Jack goes to see him and he tells Jack that he has to come back in a week for his treatment which is drilling. But just before his appointment, Terri with help from Janet dumps him and when he sees Jack in her place he assumes it's because of him. And Jack is unaware of what happened and goes for his appointment.

Season 7, Episode 3: Diamond Jack

19 October 1982
The guys get a phone answering machine. Larry tells Jack he sets him up with a girl who will call him. Later a girl named Rita calls and leaves Jack a message telling him where they will meet. Jack goes to see her. Thing is she thinks Jack is a fence whom she wants to fence some diamonds for her. When Jack meets her, they arrange to meet at his place later, she then kisses him and slips him the diamonds. When he goes home, he finds them and freaks out and shows the girls. That's when Rita and a guy show up demanding their money.

Season 7, Episode 4: Extra, Extra

26 October 1982
When Janet's date, a reporter upon learning that she and Jack are living together wants to do an article about them. Only problem is that when it comes out, it hints that something is going on between them. Jack tells them to ignore it until the girls are being treated lewdly by men who read the article. And when guys think Jack is "the man", he doesn't deny it. That is until his girlfriend dumps him. And things get worse when Jack and Terri's mothers upon reading the article thinks that it's best that they leave the apartment.

Season 7, Episode 5: Jack Gets His Own Restaurant

9 November 1982
Mr. Angelino has a vacant restaurant which he is trying to rent out. When Jack decides to get it, he jumps in without checking it out first. He discovers that it needs a lot of work so he pulls all of his money in the bank to use on the renovation. But he still needs to come up with the rent money and the bank won't grant him a loan.

Season 7, Episode 6: Opening Night

Final preparations are underway to open Jack's Bistro. Larry is totally ineffective with repairs in the building and even has the flyer printed with the wrong date. No customers show up on opening night.

Season 7, Episode 7: Cousin, Cuisine

Felipe asks Jack if his cousin can stay with him. When he sees how lovely she is, he lets her. Now she doesn't understand English too well. When Jack offers her a job at his restaurant, she misinterprets if as a proposal.

Season 7, Episode 8: An Affair to Forget

Janet's friend Randy comes to town, and when Jack meets her, he is smitten. Janet is OK with Jack and Randy going out. Later, Janet and Jack find out Randy omitted one detail - she is married.

Season 7, Episode 9: The Brunch

7 December 1982
Jack learns that an ultra conservative minister is trying to keep his restaurant from getting it's wine license. Mr. Angelino tells Jack he knows the man and the reason is because the restaurant was once a hangout for hookers. So Jack has to try and convince the minister that the restaurant is respectable. So he asks Janet and Terri to come and dress conservatively. But things get hairy when an amorous newlywed couple who are waiting to go on their honeymoon come in and start making out. And Larry's date turns wild after he gets her drunk.

Season 7, Episode 10: The Impossible Dream

14 December 1982
When Jack's kitchen help quits, Mr Furley immediately says he will do the job and Jack cannot say no. Mr Furley is not effective. Larry suggests hiring guitar player for background music. Larry decides to be the accompanist singer.

Season 7, Episode 11: Breaking Up Is Hard to Do

4 January 1983
When Terri saves a man's life, he asks her out so she asks him to meet him at the apartment. When he sees she lives with Jack, he gets a strange look. And Furley thinks he knows him. Later while playing scrabble with Janet, Furley remembers that the man is a convicted murderer who killed a guy whom he thought was seeing his girlfriend.

Season 7, Episode 12: Larry's Sister

11 January 1983
Larry's younger sister Diane is in town, and allows Jack to take Diane out with her. But then Jack and Diane do not get back home until after 2 AM and Larry is furious. A miscommunication makes everyone think they did more than just go out.

Season 7, Episode 13: Bob and Carol and Larry and Terri

18 January 1983
At the bar, Carol tells Larry & Mr Furley about an incident with a boat on the water. They leave the bar, but the story spreads around, with the details all switched around. Soon it becomes a story about Carol breaking up with her husband.

Season 7, Episode 14: Going to Pot

1 February 1983
A building inspector claims that there's a minor infraction at Jack's restaurant which gives him cause to have it closed unless Jack pays him off. The girls tell him to record the man soliciting a pay off. He calls the police and they play the tape without Jack there but the man only hears Jack's earlier conversation with Furley about "pot" "from Mexico" that could be costly. So the police go to the restaurant to get Furley.

Season 7, Episode 15: Star Struck

15 February 1983
Terri treats a man who is an actor on a soap opera. Later he asks her out, and she accepts. But what she doesn't know is that he prefers trashy women so the show is considering writing him off unless he appears to be respectable. After going out with him on one date, he proposes to Terri. While Janet is happy Jack is suspicious. Later he goes to Jack's restaurant with one of his girlfriends and Jack sees him.

Season 7, Episode 16: Jack Goes the Distance

22 February 1983
Mr Furley knocks over the drink of another patron at the bar. The guy is a bully who insults Furley. When Jack comes to Furley's defense, the bully challenges Jack to a boxing match at the local gym. Turns out the bully is a boxing champ.

Season 7, Episode 17: Jack's Double Date

1 March 1983
Janet & Terri make a bet that Jack cannot stay away from women for one week. Immediately the girls make him go with Mr Furley to the bar for Woman's Night. Furley meets a woman who has a friend for Jack. This causes Jack to lose the bet.

Season 7, Episode 18: Janet's Little Helper

15 March 1983
Janet gets a stereo for Jack & Terri as a surprise, but it needs repaired. Mr Furley suggests his nephew Mark to repair it. In return, Janet can help Mark with dating lessons. Jack & Terri find out about the nephew and assume Janet is dating him.

Season 7, Episode 19: The Apartment

22 March 1983
Jack's works extra hours at the restaurant after it closes, so he sleeps in the vacant apartment above his Bistro. He finds Mr. Angelino there with a woman, having an affair. One night, Janet and Terri stop by and find Jack with the woman.

Season 7, Episode 20: Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

5 April 1983
Larry buys a false mustache and thinks more women will fall for his lines. When Jack sees it works, he buys a mustache. He wears it home; Terri finds his new appearance makes him look like one of her former boyfriends. Terri falls in love.

Season 7, Episode 21: Navy Blues

3 May 1983
Bill, a former friend of Jack's comes to town. Jack worked with Bill as a cook in the Navy. Jack offers him a job at the Bistro since Bill is a good cook. Turns out Bill has his own devious agenda to getting a partnership in the Bistro.

Season 7, Episode 22: Borrowing Trouble

10 May 1983
Janet & Terri walk into a started conversation and hear that someone is going out of business. They assume it is Jack's Bistro. They devise a plan to give Jack money to save what they think is his losing business. Jack buys a leather coat.

Season 8, Episode 1: Jack Be Quick

27 September 1983
Jack's girlfriend wants him to be the father of her child but not get married which Jack believes in. He then leaves. Later she calls him to talk about it and when Janet hears it, she assumes that his girlfriend is already pregnant. So she tells Jack to go there and do the right thing, which he assumes is Janet telling him it's OK to father her child.

Season 8, Episode 2: She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not

4 October 1983
Larry visits Jack as he is cleaning the apartment and finds a magazine quiz about sleeping with a roommate. Larry & Jack assume Janet or Terri must have filled it out. Larry suggests they all go to a mountain cabin to figure it which gal.

Season 8, Episode 3: The Money Machine

18 October 1983
Jack goes to the ATM to withdraw $100. The ATM malfunctions and gives him a $1,000. Jack leaves a message for the bank to return the money on Monday. He hides the money in the couch at home, not realizing Mr Furley is taking the couch.

Season 8, Episode 4: Out on a Limb

25 October 1983
When a critic comes to Jack's restaurant and stays only for a moment. Jack feeling that the guy was going to pan the restaurant, on advice from Larry writes a mad letter expressing his disgust. After he mails it, the critic calls him telling him thanks for a good time. So Jack goes to the man's office to try and get the letter before he sees it.

Janet arranged for Jack to go out with a friend of hers. But he forgets and has plans so he asks Larry to pretend to be him and go out with her. She was only suppose to be in town for a night but Larry convinced her to extend her stay and invited her to "his" restaurant.

Janet's father is visiting. Jack tells his roommate about his new girlfriend Doreen, but is hesitant to tell what she does for a living. She is a sex therapist, but when Janet meets her, she thinks Doreen is a prostitute.

Larry used Jack's chocolate chip recipe to make cookies & entered them in a contest. Larry tells Jack he won, but to accept, he has to dress as a woman. Of course, there is more to it than that.

Season 8, Episode 8: Like Father, Like Son

Jack's father makes a surprise visit and starts interfering in Jack's life. Jack Sr has lost his salesman job and tries to keep it from Jack. When Jack finds out, he gets his father something to do.

Jack's dating a wealthy girl. He goes with her to a party her family is throwing. When he arrives he sees that they're gambling. Her father gives Jack some chips to bet with. When he loses he freaks out that he can't pay it. So he goes home, Larry says he has a system. So they go back to the party. But what they don't know is that they're just playing for fun.

A former girlfriend of Jack's calls and asks to meet in the park to discuss how to save her marriage to her jealous husband. When Mr Furley comes to the park, they hid from Furley accidentally in the poison ivy. How to explain that?

Season 8, Episode 14: Baby, It's Cold Inside

Jack purchases a side of beef and take it to restaurant freezer. Mr Furley goes with him. At the restaurant Jack and Mr Furley interrupt a burglar who locks them in the freezer. Fear of death, Jack confesses he is not gay. They are rescued.

Season 8, Episode 15: Look What I Found

When they find a cat on their door step they take it in but unfortunately pets are not allowed in the building so they hide it. But when Furley sees it he takes a liking to it and takes it in. But when an inspector his brother sent to see if all the rules of the building are enforced he hides it. At the same time the cat's owner a little girl comes looking for it and when jack asks for it Furley tells him that he took the cat to the pound. So they each get a cat for the girl. When the inspector arrives they try to hide the cats.

Season 8, Episode 16: Jack's Tattoo

31 January 1984
When Jack has a reunion with some of Navy buddies and after getting drunk, he discovers he got a tattoo on his derrière that says "The Love Butt". So Terri arranges for Jack to go to the hospital to have it removed. Janet and Furley over hears parts of Jack's conversations and assume he's having a procedure that they think is too drastic so they try to convince him not to.

Season 8, Episode 17: Jack Takes Off

21 February 1984
A pretty art teacher moves in next to the three, and Jack takes her classes in order to get close to her. He agrees to be a model but finds out he has to be nude. Embarrassing enough, but then Mr Furley joins the class.

Season 8, Episode 18: Forget Me Not

Jack uses Janet's new car without permission and has an accident. He totals the car. When he in in the hospital, Terri overhears the wrong diagnosis and assumes Jack has amnesia. Jack plays along so he does not get yelled at by Janet.

Season 8, Episode 19: The Heiress

One of Janet's customers who passes away and she is one of his beneficiaries. He leaves her a vase. One of his relatives who is an art dealer says it's a cheap one. When he asks Janet out Jack suspects he lied about the vase's value and is trying to get it.

Season 8, Episode 20: Cupid Works Overtime

Janet's boyfriend proposes, and she announces she is moving out. Jack is on an airplane and nervous. He meets Vicky, a stewardess, and everything goes wrong. He asks her to dinner for a second chance, but her father interferes.

Season 8, Episode 21: Friends and Lovers: Part 1

Janet & Phillip plan for wedding at Janet's apartment. Jack wants to win the approval of Vicki's father. Mr Bradford tells Jack that Vicki is up for a promotion at work, in another state, and turned it down. Jack tells her to take it.

Season 8, Episode 22: Friends and Lovers: Part 2

18 September 1984
Janet is married and starts her new life. Terry announces she is moving to Hawaii. Vicki and Jack get back together but she does not want to get married. Since her parents divorced, she does not believe in marriage, but she will live with him.
