Storyline

Barth Gimble and Jerry Hubbard are the host of a talk show produced in the fictitious town of Fernwood, Ohio (also the setting of "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman"). The show featured parodies of guests that might appear on real talk shows, only with the twisted small-town mentality of Fernwood. Music was provide by the sad-faced Happy Kyne and his Mirthmakers; Happy was also the proprietor of a fast-food restaurant called Bun 'n' Run. Written by Mike Konczewski

Trivia

The members of the Mirth Makers were usually uncredited. They were Eddie Robertson as Eddie Thomerson, bass; Tommy Tedesco as Tommy Marinucci, guitar; Frank Marocco as Frankie Carbone, accordion; and Colin Bailey as the drummer. Bailey is the only member of the band who was not featured separately in a comedic bit. See more »

Polyester
21 October 2000 | by (Portland, Oregon) – See all my reviews

One of my favorite features on Fernwood Tonight was the guests. One was a scientist researching the effects of polyester using white rats. He held up a rat dressed in a tiny polyester leisure suit, and a control rat dressed in tweed. He reported that, not only did the rats in tweed get less cancer, they got more girls.
