Trivia

The project that ended up becoming this film originated from producer Eloy Lozano, who wanted to film Eduardo Blanco Amor's Galician-language book "A esmorga" in its original language and with a screenplay by Blanco Amor himself. The project ended up falling apart and Blanco Amor's screenplay was sold to Gonzalo Suárez, who partially rewrote it and directed it as this Spanish-language movie. Eduardo Blanco Amor, while retaining screenwriter credit in the finished film, was disappointed with the changes made to his story and claimed that he one day would like to see the book made into a Galician language film starring Galician actors. That finally happened with Ignacio Vilar's A esmorga (2014), though 35 years after Blanco Amor's death in 1979. See more »

Cebrian (Jose Sacristan), is a blast furnace worker Asturian and is being held in the Civil Guard barracks. There has to be accountable for the disaster caused in a day of partying, with two friends, "El Bocas" (José Luis Gómez) and the "Mil Hombres" (Antonio Ferrandis). What began as a lark again became an alcoholic delirium sex and violence ...

Master film shot in Asturias by Gonzalo Suárez made shoestring, where all actors are of outstanding, especially Ferrandis and Sacristan. The story told is not the typical hardships and calamities on Spanish post war but goes further and it certainly seems that the actors have gotten to the soul within their characters, the developments leading to these three characters into the abyss ...

After the euphoria of the three protagonists in their night of fun and saturated alcohol is slowly emerging frustrations within themselves. "Cebrian" for his failed marriage, "El Bocas" for his sexual frustration, and "Mil hombres" for his hides and irrepressible hidden homosexuality and passion for his partner "El Bocas".

The environments are fully achieved with a magnificent photography of Carlos Suarez, with unforgettable scenes like the three protagonists stay in the brothel, and the strange appearance supporting actor of extraordinary luxury Fernan Gomez.
