Trio of young men go on robbery and killing spree
29 August 2012 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

It's a kind of sub-genre of crime movies in which, as in Badlands, some people go on a killing spree. This one is kind of like an exploitation movie because it has a moralistic speech in the middle in which the policeman rips into the parents for raising such monsters. The girl friend of the weakest of the three also takes a number of opportunities to excoriate the killers. Unfortunately their names in the movie do not match up to the IMDb names, so I cannot name the actors, other than the policeman (Tomas Milian) and the girl (Eleonora Girogi) and the chief bad guy might be Stefano Patrizi. It doesn't matter. They all did a very good job defining their characters in their roles. The script is well written and the direction is sound. It is only that it is not enjoyable to see innocent people getting slaughtered every few minutes. It's strange but even more people get killed in some spaghetti westerns to less effect. Here there is enough development of the people getting killed that you the viewer feel bad about it, and that's a merit of the film. The wimpy one of the three goes through a character arc. The rest do not.

Every so often there is music that does not fit. I don't know if it was added with the dubbing, but it was more like a surfer music at times or some bad 70s music.

There's an excellent car chase scene for which these policiers seem known for. There's excellent location cinematography of Milan and environs all the way through.

There are two psychopaths, both well-drawn and well-played. One grates with his wiseguy antics and laughter, again it could be the dubbing. The main one, the leader, is really chilling, and the actor who played him did a top notch job of it. He's the real center of the movie, and we long for someone to bump him off.

It gets to a point you wish the movie were over, but that's because of its content, not because it's done badly. It's not done badly at all.
