While seeking their sister, Quentin and Morgan Beaudine come across Charlotte Ross, a white woman living with the Indians. Against her will, they take her back into town where she and her half-breed son are shunned. When she learns that her relatives are no longer living the Beaudine brothers and a kind-hearted soldier try to help her.
The. Beaudine brothers run afoul of a surly group of unscrupulous buffalo hunters, who take them prisoner and force them to work with the buffalo hides. They meet an Indian woman in the camp who is being used as slave labor. Turns out the camp is being stalked by the woman's young brave. She is shot while she and the brothers escape. Quentin is also wounded until Morgan comes to his rescue.
The brothers join up with an aging trapper to make money for their quest to find their sister. A vicious mountaineer ambushes the group, injuring Quentin and leaving him for dead, taking captive Morgan and the trapper with plans to sell them to the Indians.
