Storyline
Popular Indian leading man Amitabh Bachchan stars in HERA PHERI, a campy Bollywood musical melodrama about faded friendships and family secrets. Best friends Vijay (Bachchan) and Ajay (Vinod Khanna) sever their relationship when Vijay discovers that his father's murderer may be Ajay's own long-lost father, setting into motion a bloody saga of familial revenge that involves a maniacally insane mother, a bra-strap-obsessed serial rapist, and a motley assortment of badly disguised villains. After the successful ZANJEER(1973) which made Bachchan a star Amitabh and PM returned with HERA PHERI(1976) a full comedy Prakash Mehra and Bachchan didn't do much comedies together barring NAMAK HALAAL(1982) and this film
The movie also has Amitabh and Vinod together for the first time in a full out and out comedy
After this film they worked together in AAA, PARVARISH, KHOON PASINA and MQS
The movie is a full fledged comedy film with lots of chaos
Amitabh and Vinod play con artists who rob people
The first half is like a Priyadarshan comedy with lots of chaos, people running around and also people getting robbed.etc There are portions which drag and many portions which are too unrealistic and too over the top The second half gets more serious and there is a clash between Amitabh and Vinod which is a mystery solved in the end
Direction by PM is not up to his standards but okay Music is good
Amitabh does his role with his usual style and charisma He portrays a con artist naturally and goes through his role with elan as he does usually Vinod Khanna too does a great job and his combo with Bachchan is fantastic the actresses are okay Asrani is funny
