Later, when he realizes he's flying upside-down alongside them, he is watching from the same position. With the helicopter flying upside-down, Bolt should have been on the other side, and unable to see the RV.
The gasoline attendant is shown filling up the Winnebago through the heater exhaust. The gasoline fill cap on this model is on the other side of the vehicle, just behind the rear wheel. Were the attendant to peer through the window on the driver's side, there would be no "perfect" place for the children to hide and still hear Jason when he re-enters the vehicle.
