Storyline

The one-armed boxer is stalked by a vengeful flying guillotine expert, after his disciples were killed in the first 'One-Armed Boxer' film. But as the flying guillotine master is blind, he starts his quest by becoming a serial killer of one-armed men. Meanwhile, the one-armed boxer is running a martial arts school, where he teaches his pupils to control their breath so they can run up walls and along ceilings. And there's an Indian fakir whose arms can extend until they're ten feet long. As you may have gathered, a rational plot summary is pretty pointless - but rest assured there are epic martial arts battles and ludicrously inspired moments galore. BELIEVE IT OR NOT,THIS IS A SEQUEL.
22 September 1999 | by (CARDIFF,WALES) – See all my reviews

Not a film ever likely to make its way into the A.F.I. top 100 this is a quintessential martial arts movie from 1970's Hong Kong in the post Bruce Lee years. The plot which could hardly be called derivative is about a maniac who is seeking revenge for the loss of a loved one at the hands of a one-armed man.No Richard Kimble he,this genius decides the best way to achieve justice is to kill every one-armed man in China by use of a guillotine attached to the end of a rope.As anyone would! He meets his match at the hands of the movie's director and star Jimmy Wang Yu who played the same part in the earlier "THE ONE ARMED BOXER" which explained how our hero became deficient in the upper limb department. Before these two screaming, screeching antagonists meet at the climax in a fight that lasts about 45 minutes we are treated to a ludicrously prolonged tournament sequence where each contestant is more bizarre than the one before and includes a Hindu who can stretch his arms out yards like a cartoon superhero. This guy is no masterpiece of special effects and seems to have stilts up his sleeves."FLYING GUILLOTINE" is typical of a Wang Yu movie;he was H.K's numero uno Kung Fu star before Bruce Lee came along and disguised his unspectacular fighting style with outlandish plots and gimmicks that usually saw him take on legions of opponents at a time whilst losing body parts at a rate of knots. If you have a stomach for this sort of thing and I am delighted to say that I have;this is as good a way as any of spending 80 minutes of your allotted life span.
