Storyline

After her doctors declare her ready to return to society, Ethel leaves the psychiatric hospital and goes to live with her grandmother. She soon develops a few odd habits, in particular a insatiable compulsion to eat massive amounts of food. When grandma locks away the food supply out of fear for her granddaughter's health, Ethel kills her for the keys to the pantry. Left to her own devices, she now indulges her hunger non-stop, murdering anyone who dares to stand in her way. Will anyone be able to put a stop to her? Goofs

After Ethel kills her grandmother, she tries to retrieve the keys by mutilating her hand. Despite her stabbing the hand continuously, there are no wounds on the hand for that matter - plus if she had been stabbing the hand for so long, it could've easily been sliced off and Ethel could have retrieved the keys by then. Best of the Bad!!
27 June 2001 | by (Easton, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.) – See all my reviews

I first saw "Criminally Insane" when I was about six years old and I knew immediately I wanted it. I bought it from the video store for $30.00 when my grandfather finally convinced me I wasn't gonna find it anywhere else for sale (and now I realize I'll probably never find it for rent again either). My father soon talked me into trading it in for "Aladdin". I thought I would never see it again. Then I found it at Movies Unlimited and I own it once again. It is one of the best "bad" movies ever made. No matter what anyone says, it's entertaining. Even my mom couldn't deny that she enjoyed it! Definitely a classic.
