Hayden Danziger is on a cruise with his older but much, much richer wife Sylvia. Rosanna Wells is on the same ship, as its singer. Rosanna and Hayden were recently lovers, after which Rosanna began blackmailing Hayden; so, having decided to kill her, he has planned the perfect crime - or so it seems, since Lt. Columbo is cruising on that very same ship and the captain has asked for his help. Written by

The woman who calls out to Robert Vaughn's character on the sun/pool deck (something about margaritas) was Peter Falk's personal assistant. See more »
The murder weapon is determined to be a .38 caliber revolver, yet no one bothers to tell Columbo that the magician performing on-board has what appears to be a genuine .38 revolver which is later shown being used in his act. See more »
Robert Vaughn stars as Hayden Danziger, a used car salesman on a cruise to Acapulco with his wealthy wife Sylvia(played by Jane Greer) who has decided to murder his recent mistress, a lounge singer on the ship who is blackmailing him. Danziger concocts an elaborate alibi to establish his innocence, and implicate another boyfriend of hers(played by Dean Stockwell). By chance, a vacationing Lt. Columbo(Peter Falk) is also aboard, and asked to investigate the murder until the ship reaches Mexico. Can Columbo solve the crime before then? Patrick Macnee and returning actor Bernard Fox costar as ship officers. Mediocre entry has a good cast but a slack pace.
