John Belushi and Chris Farley: comic saints
31 July 2005 | by (Portland, Oregon, USA) – See all my reviews

My parents started watching "Saturday Night Live" when it first debuted, stopped watching it in the '80s, and we all occasionally watch it nowadays. The best episodes were during the show's first five seasons. Whether it was Chevy Chase imitating Gerald Ford, John Belushi playing a samurai, Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtin debating politics, Gilda Radner's Emily Litella or Roseanne Roseannadanna, or any one of Bill Murray's or Laraine Newman's or Garrett Morris' skits, they always came up with something great.

The episodes from 1990-1995 were also really great. Whether it was Chris Farley's motivational speaker (I LIVE IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!!!!!!!!!), Adam Sandler's Hannukah song, or Phil Hartman's Clinton impressions, they always came up with something great during those seasons.

Recently, Will Ferrell did some great skits, particularly his Bush impressions. I really liked that time when Jim Carrey hosted and tried to "save" Will Ferrell from drowning. But anyway, it's a great show. You should watch it whenever possible...assuming that it's not an '80s episode.
