Storyline

Sitting behind a desk or wearing a suit and tie while investigating fancy crimes was no life for Joe Forrester. That's why Joe chose to continue walking a beat, believing that a policeman could do better work the closer he got to the community he was protecting. In his uniform blues, Joe handled robbers, runaways, pushers and arsonists more than crazed killers and rapists. Sgt. Vincent was Joe's boss, and lovely Georgia his girlfriend. Not The Usual Cop Show
6 December 2001 | by (Chicago, USA) – See all my reviews

Joe Forrester was the type of cop that's not often profiled on most TV crime shows. He was a beat cop who knew everyone up and down his route. He walked the streets and actually connected with people. Forrester was also an older cop, as well, and that informed how he reacted to situations on his job. Unfortunately, this different kind of cop show didn't last long on NBC. It could be considered a distant cousin of later shows such as "NYPD Blue" and "Hill Street Blues".
