Rage in the streets
An unknown and totally lost and forgotten film from the mid seventies which was not a crime movie but a crime drama instead, social story emphasizing of the young punks. Acting not so good as it will be twenty or thirty years later, here the players overplay in such a manner that it is not as realistic as in LA HAINE for instance or COMME UN AIMANT. Lousy directing too, hesitating between tragedy and lighter moments. It was written by a young Tony Gatlif, the gypsy director. Some harsh sequences obliged the censors to postpone its released not before 1975, the film being shot in 1973, and for under 18 audiences. One of the earliest on this subject, though there were some in the fifties and sixties too, but not in the same manner, with such intensity.
