The company has delayed their first wave by nearly a month as Bottle Rocket, Chungking Express, The Third Man, and The Man Who Fell to Earth will now release on December 16 and The Last Emperor has now been set for January 6. However, there is some good news on the Criterion front... They have a sale going on right now giving you 40% off of everything on their site. Click here to take advantage. Now to today's DVDs and Blu-ray releases. Wall-e I just reviewed the Blu-ray version of this and I have to say, it is a very long review. So let me give you the short version: Buy It... 'Hitler's Brain' Gets a Musical Makeover

23 October 2008 6:32 AM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

There was a time when musicals were relegated to replays of the classics -- usually tales of romance belted out on stage or screen. But in the wake of adaptations like Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Evil Dead: The Musical, just about anything and everything is getting the musical treatment -- so much so that I wonder how long it will take for us to break out into our own musical numbers, like a demon-free Once More, With Feeling.

For now, we're going to see another cult classic hit the musical scene. Variety reports that Chris Wyatt (Napoleon Dynamite) and Mark Altman are cooking up a remake of the sixties cult classic They Saved Hitler's Brain as a sci-fi musical comedy. The title explains it all. After WWII, the Nazis remove Hitler's living head and hide it with the plan to get the Third Reich another shot some time in the future. »

House Star Wilde For Python-style Movie

20 March 2008 9:05 AM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

House star Olivia Wilde has been signed up to star in a new comedy film in the style of Monty Python And The Holy Grail.

Wilde has been cast alongside funnyman Jack Black and Superbad star Michael Cera in Year One, which has been scripted by Ghostbusters writer and star Harold Ramis.

The movie - due for release next summer - will attempt to recapture the spirit of the original Monty Python films including The Holy Grail and The Life Of Brian.

And Wilde is delighted to be involved in the project as she has long been a fan of the legendary British comedy group.

She says, "The script is so funny. I'm a huge Monty Python fan, and it's definitely got Python-esque humour. It's over-the-top, but smart. Michael Cera and Jack Black are searching for the meaning of life." »
