Parents Guide for
Earthquake (1974) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

No nudity. One character exposes breasts covered by tight t-shirt. Implied sex offscreen. Attempted rape (not graphic). Reference to homosexual activity.

Violence & Gore

A lot of blood is shown throughout. Multiple characters die violently onscreen. Deaths by falling out of buildings, crushing, impaling, drowning, crashing elevator. Not overly graphic. Three characters shot dead in cold blood.

Violence should be given a PG-13 rating. One lady is showered with glass from a highrise building and when she turns to face the camera, there is blood streaming from her face which has glass fragment stuck in her face.

Profanity

Foul language, including "god d-mnit (Used 4-5)" (this expletive is the first spoken line of the film, in fact), "j-sus chr-st (approx 7)", "fag". bastard--3-4 times; shit-once as well as multiple uses of damn and hell

Note: The language in this movie should be at least given the rating of pg-13--and probably would have been if made in the 2000s.

Multiple characters act drunk onscreen. One character smokes cigarette.

Destruction scenes associated with a major earthquake. Building collapse, people hit with debris, falling power lines (child in danger), flooding, falling elevator killing multiple people, three people falling out of a building to their death (one through a glass skylight), violent building collapse killing hundreds.
