Blazing Saddles kicks you in the face if you have any objections to the epithets that are in the 2000's so much avoided. A small town in the southwest US, ruled by an overbearing Hedley Lamarr (Harvey Korman) needs a sheriff.

Bart (Cleavon Little), the new sheriff rides into town. He adds contrast to the town. Hedley needs to hire workers to build the railroad. He tells Taggart (Slim Pickens) just who to hire by ethnic origin. The original movie is filled with stereotypes of all sorts. Mel Brooks has gone to the wall to make fun of every epithet and stereotype that we all know.

This movie is set in the southwest US. Gene Roddenberry created Star Trek to show what the future could be. What the future could be when race or gender was not a defining point.

Mel Brooks takes the humorous approach. Roddenberry takes the futuristic approach.
