Spede Pasanen was the first person who became interested in adapting Veikko Huovinen's novel into a film before Seppo Huunonen got the rights.
The film's first television premiere on April 5, 1975 overlapped with the World Cup Ice Hockey match between Finland and the Soviet Union, which was broadcast on another channel, but the film still received more than a million viewers.
The film includes a scene where Valtteri and Sepe go to see Risto Jarva's film Kun taivas putoaa... (1972).
The film was Seppo Huunonen's first feature film as both producer and director.
The actors Leo Lastumäki and Heikki Kinnunen, who play the main characters in the film, have previously acted together in the television show Ällitälli (1971).
