Where the heck has this gal been? Former soap queen and Broadway baby Catherine Hickland hasn't been seen on our TV screens since One Life to Live ended its run on ABC three years ago — and that's fine by her! The much-missed, eternally effervescent beauty is fully busy these days as a cosmetics mogul, life coach, motivational speaker and hypnotherapist. She's now married to producer Todd Fisher, son of Debbie Reynolds and the late Eddie Fisher. (Yep, that makes her Princess Leia's sister-in-law!). And she has joined forces with 99-year-old wunderkind writer Fern Underwood on the just-published Cat and Fern's Excellent God Adventure: Daily Inspirations for 365 Days of Heaven on Earth. Co-written by bestselling author and soap scribe Lindsay Harrison (The Young and the Restless, Venice) and with a forward by Reynolds, the book is available through both Amazon.com and catandfern.com. "I'll tell you when I first realized he was not real. I kept asking my parents back in Ukraine. I remember hearing someone at the door so I ran downstairs, and I saw my dad. He was underneath the tree, and I said, 'Mommy, mommy, daddy ate Santa Claus!' I think that was very traumatic for me. I was a kid so at that point they had »

10 December 2014 4:45 PM, PST | backstage.com | See recent Backstage news »

SAG-aftra’s leadership formally approved a deal that gives a pay hike to soap opera actors and other members. The deal between the union, whose national board voted 93 percent in favor of the agreement Tuesday, and the four major television broadcast networks covers performers on programs ranging from "The Young and the Restless" and "Saturday Night Live” to "Dancing with the Stars." SAG-aftra Leaders Approve Network Code Contract

8 December 2014 7:00 PM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The SAG-AFTRA national board has approved the tentative agreement reached with ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox for a successor agreement on the union’s network television code master contract.

The board met Monday by video conference in New York and Los Angeles to review the terms of the new agreement and voted to send the contract to those eligible among the 165,000 members for ratification.

Members who are current on dues should receive the ratification package within the next week.

The tentative deal, reached Nov. 14, covers most non-primetime TV work and about $200 million in annual earnings for members. The gains are similar to those in the three-year SAG-AFTRA master contract covering feature film and primetime work, which members ratified in August.

“This is a terrific deal and I congratulate the hard-working negotiating committee,” said SAG-Afta president Ken Howard, who chaired the committee. “This agreement achieved significant gains across »

SAG-aftra’s Board Approves New Network TV Code Deal

8 December 2014 6:45 PM, PST | Deadline New York | See recent Deadline New York news »

The SAG-AFTRA board of directors has voted overwhelmingly to approve the new Network Television Code, the union’s contract covering nonprimetime TV shows. The new three-year pact, which generates more than $200 million a year in earnings, now goes to the guild’s members for final ratification.

The new agreement, which was tentatively struck on November 14, includes an 8.7% overall increase in “most program fees”: 2.5% the first year and 3% in each of the second and third years, compounded. That’s the same deal the union got earlier this year for its new film and TV contract, though it’s less than the 3% annual pay raises the DGA and the WGA got for their new film and television contracts.

Soap opera performers will be getting a smaller pay raise. Their wages will increase only 7.2% over three years: 2% the first year and 2.5% in each of the second and third years, compounded. News »

“Young and the Restless” actor Corey Sligh suffered multiple injuries, including a broken arm, after being hit by a car and beaten by two allegedly drunk men on Thanksgiving, according to a CBS report.

Sligh was preparing to deliver a holiday meal to his friend on Thursday when he entered a Rite-Aid in Los Angeles with his girlfriend, actress Alisa Berhorst. They reportedly noticed two men speeding and doing donuts in the parking lot, and Sligh told them to “please slow down or we’re gonna call the cops, just go home,” Berhorst told CBS.

The two men then apparently hit Sligh with their car, and then got out of the vehicle to attack him. Sligh, who has a recurring role on “The Young and the Restless” and on other soaps, was treated for injuries including a broken arm, which required surgery, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
