Stirlitz makes a risky trip to send a message back home, informing them of his decision to approach Himmler. Meanwhile the investigation into his activities moves forward.
Stirlitz' radio operator is killed and his wife identified as Russian. Himmler arranges Wolff's contact with the Allies. Stirlitz tries to approach Himmler but is prevented from doing so by Schellenberg who requests the use of the pastor.
