[shows badge then puts it away]

Susan Clark stars as business heir Beth Chadwick, the waiting lady in
question who has fallen in love with an employee named Peter
Hamilton(played by Leslie Nielsen) which brings on the disapproval of
her overly-protective brother Bryce(played by Richard Anderson) whom
she decides to shoot at their home, claiming him a burglar, thus making
it look like an unfortunate accident, but a highly doubtful Lt.
Columbo(Peter Falk) is determined to prove murder, despite an inquest's
verdict of accidental death. How can Columbo prove otherwise? Good cast
does what it can to aid rambling mystery with little suspense. One of
the weaker(if just passable) cases.
