Death in Venice (1971)
At the time filming commenced on Death in Venice, Bjorn Andresen was 15 years and 2 months old. When filming finished on 2 August 1970 at a plum orchard at Bolzano, Andresen was 15 years ans 6 months old. Andresen turned 16 on 26th January 1971 which was 6 months after filming had finished so the visits to the gay clubs when Bjorn was 16 years old could not be in contemplation of preparing for his role in Death in Venice since filming was already completed at that stage.
In Snakes and Ladders(1978) by Dirk Bogarde it is stated that originally the Producer, Luchino Visconti wanted Dirk to wear a false nose to make him look more like Mahler. This prove impossible to wear as it kept falling off and prevented him from making normal facial movements. It was then decided he should wear a moustache and prince-nez glasses so he ended up looking more like Thomas Mann than Gustav Mahler.
According to Snakes and Ladders(1978) by Dirk Bogarde, the actor agreed to accept $40,000--00 for 5 months work. He was also to receive a large percentage of the film. As of the time of writing of Snakes and Ladders he had not received a cent.
