Fans of Something Weird Video will be entertained
14 February 2007 | by (Worcester, MA) – See all my reviews

By any technical standards, this is pretty poorly done. The direction is flat and workmanlike, the pacing is abyssal, and the comedic acting is annoyingly unfunny. Still, fans of this kind of drive-in trash don't watch these films for good production values. This entry in the "Three Fantastic Supermen" series has some moments of camp gold. Sure it runs on for far too long (at 91 minutes), but fans of Something Weird Video will be entertained. Its an alien and strange viewing experience. The jokes are so forced they eventually become rather funny because you're laughing at them, no with them.

I guess overall I find it difficult to dislike any exploitation movie this strange. There's plenty of aside moments that come from left field and make this a disorienting film (the Russians' dance and the cannibals coming to mind). Plus, the female native tribe are all scantly-clad lookers. Despite not being an all-time cult classic, I'd rather watch this trash than most of the Oscar winners of the past few years. (4/10)
