Ahead of its time, 6 January 2003
Author: Freebird2 from USA

I recommend watching this movie and then fast forward and watch Tigerland,Plattoon, full Metal Jacket.Tribes was ahead of its time, but the story is repeated.I just noticed how some themes are remade by Hollywood. One scene that sticks out in my mind was when Jan-Michael Vincent was able to hold buckets for so long.He was thinking of a time with his woman-being free and blocking everything else out.It was a battle between two ideals-drill sergeant trying to do his job and recruit who didn't want his job.I was a member of military had some friends kind of like that and I don't hold fact they "couldn't" adapt to military life against them-should have see some of derelict people I served with and that were my superiors.Definately worth seeing for comparisons to more modern films of similar theme.
