Guy Madison and Steve Merrick protect what's left of their family from Rik Battaglia's gang, 3 October 2014
Author: msroz from United States

I watched this under the title "This Man Can't Die". It was a full screen print in color, and it looked good even full screen. The dubbing was excellent. The audio was excellent and understandable even with low volume. The music score had an very good title song and also a catchy main motif song. Some reviews are saying that parts were lifted from Morricone scores.

I try to place the spaghetti westerns in three main categories: below average, average, and above average. I try to get that right first. For me, average means good, a solid watch, a decent movie, flawed (as most movies are) but entertaining and watchable, no severe demerits. Average = 6 in my scheme. This movie I rate as average, which still means it's good. Above average is 7 and on up. Below average is 5 and on down.

In this movie I noticed a sixtyish actor. Here he's an old settler who lives miles from nowhere with his wife. His name is Attilio Dottesio. He adds colorful characters to the movies he's in. I also noticed Lucienne Bridou's sensitive performance as one of Guy Madison's sisters. She falls in love with an associate of Guy who is wounded. Madison's girl friend is a saloon girl played by Rosalba Neri and she's notable too in her role. Madison is fairly laid back in his hero's role. He seems somewhat fatigued and looking a bit gaunt. His younger brother, Steve Merrick, has a more fiery or hot-tempered role. The bad guys lacked a really emblematic figure.

The story has two separate threads at the outset that follow Madison and Merrick. These eventually come together.

There are some reasonably well-staged action scenes and fights with a great deal of shooting. There's one chase with some very good scenery with lots of rocky ridges and paths through them.

Overall, the film is on the lackluster side and the IMDb rating of 5.2 reflects that. I'd make it a 5.5 if I could.
