Trivia

Anthony Perkins had special contact lenses made that he could barely see through, so he'd actually be nearly blind while filming his scenes. He popped the lenses in just prior to filming and was led onto the set by a crew member. See more »

Not great, but a good thriller
5 January 2013 | by (Victoria, BC) – See all my reviews

"How Awful About Allan" was one of the first made-for-TV movies to be aired. More than forty years later, it remains a pretty good thriller. Now I have to admit that I have seen my share of thrillers over the years, so when we in the audience in the final few minutes of the movie are given the explanation as to what is actually going on - and why - well, I have to admit that I wasn't really surprised. I'm sure most modern day viewers will more or less guess what's happening before the "surprise" revelation. Still, the movie is a fairly entertaining way to pass seventy-three minutes. The acting is good (Perkins shows few other actors could play disturbed people as well as he could), and with the short running time there is seldom a moment that drags. It's worth a search, and the search should be easy since the movie has apparently come into the public domain and is available on a number of budget DVDs.
