Handmaid's Tale Premiere Recap: It's a Man's, Man's, Commander's World

See Offred.

Offred, and all the women of Hulu’s excellent adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale, are royally — and often literally — screwed.

See Offred resist. Resist, Offred, resist!

The new drama, based on Margaret Atwood’s chilling novel, introduces its protagonist and starts to explain out how she went from working wife and mom in a world resembling ours to downtrodden sex slave in a society run by a totalitarian patriarchy. (Spoiler alert: The transformation is quick and chilling.)

But even though life is bleak for Offred and her sistren, there’s a spark of revolution glowing under those white winged veils. »

‘End of the Road’ is Just the Beginning

22 March 2017 5:02 PM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Short of the DayAn animated fable.

The best stories are elliptical, their ends are new beginnings. This is certainly true of today’s Short selection, End of the Road, an animated film from Bri Meyer in which a motorist traveling through the desert picks up another at the side of the road at the scene of a very bad car accident. The traveler doesn’t seem hurt, but as he won’t speak, it’s tough to tell. Until it isn’t.

Meyer facilitated every single aspect of this film herself, from the writing to the animation to the editing, and as such it’s a very aesthetically cohesive short with every element informing the others. It’s a simple story with a heady conclusion and in its brevity there’s a chilling elegance that make End of the Road far more resonant than its runtime might suggest.

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: It’s the End of the Road for Deimos

17 February 2017 4:06 AM, PST | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Days of Our Lives isn’t hesitating to bring the shock value for the weekend. It looks like Deimos has done precisely what we thought he’d do, and he’s gone right off the deep end without any hope of getting his act together. He’s a bad guy through and through, and he’s going to cause some serious drama and then he’s going to become the drama. He’s got Chad and Gabi at his mercy, starving to death slowly but surely. There’s very little hope either of them will live at this moment, and Deimos doesn’t seem to care in the least.
