Interview: Ambyr Childers for Vices

27 March 2015 8:36 AM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

Actress Ambyr Childers is quickly making a name for herself in different genres on television and in movies. Since taking her first job in the BBC comedy series S Club 7 in L.A., she's moved on to bigger opportunities like a role in the popular long-running American soap All My Children and supporting characters in The Master, Gangster Squad, 2 Guns, and several others. With Vice, Childers re-enters the world of science fiction she first dabbled with in the award-winning 2011 independent film Love.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Ms. Childers about her work on Vice. She shared her experiences working with Bruce Willis and tells readers what to expect from the movie. Childers also expands on her role of Kelly the "Artificial" and takes us behind the scenes of the making of the film.

How did you get involved in Vice?

The Bold and the Beautiful Star on How Transgender Twist 'Connects Dots'

23 March 2015 6:00 AM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

For the last two years, The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Karla Mosley has played homeless-woman-turned-aspiring-fashion-mogul Maya Avant. Maya is plucky, beautiful and driven, but she’s hardly a newsmaker.

Then, Wednesday’s episode revealed that Maya used to be a man named Myron. All of a sudden, the CBS soap’s willingness to explore a transgender character — which other daytime dramas have tried (and failed at) in the past — has more than just B&B diehards waiting for today’s episode.

What will the new development mean for Maya and Rick’s relationship? What about that baby Dayzee helped her have adopted? »

Amelia Heinle won Best Supporting Actress at the 2014 Daytime Emmys for "The Young and the Restless," a victory that came as a surprise to most of our predictors, who had favored either her co-star Elizabeth Hendrickson or Jane Elliot ("General Hospital"). Interview: Actor Trai Byers of Film ‘Selma,’ TV’s ‘Empire’

22 January 2015 1:34 PM, PST | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – The excellent film “Selma” focuses on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. But just as important as King were the marchers from supporting civil rights societies, such as the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee (Sncc), and their leaders like James Forman, portrayed in the film by Trai Byers.

Byers is an up-and-coming actor, with “Selma” being his first major film after stints on the daytime drama “All My Children” and the revival of “90210.” But besides “Selma,” Byers has a high profile part as Andre Lyon, the son of lead character Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) on the huge new Fox Network hit, “Empire.” The freshman drama has already been picked up for a second season, and its maneuverings within the Shakespeare-in-the-music-industry vibe has connected with viewers.

10 Things You Didn’t Know About Sarah Michelle Gellar

Sarah Michelle Gellar is beautiful, a very talented and often underrated actress, and a warm and charitable person with a happy family life. Essentially, she has it all – and deservedly so.

Having previously appeared in commercials when she was a small child, she made her full acting debut in the made-for-television drama film An Invasion of Privacy in 1983. Then she had several small roles in a number of television shows and movies before truly coming to prominence as Kendall Hart in the long-running All My Children in 1993.

After that, she appeared in movies like Scream 2 and I Know What You Did Last Summer, at the same time rising to superstardom as the titular Buffy Summers in Joss Whedon’s brilliant Buffy the Vampire Slayer – a role she played from 1997 to 2003, with the character also crossing over to spin-off show Angel on occasions.

The daytime soap opera genre is slowing dying out. Series like All My Children and One Life to Live were cancelled a few years ago to pave the way for talk shows that are less expensive for the ABC network. Additionally, NBC decided to cancel Passions in 2007 to make room for another hour of the successful morning news program The Today Show. Before the all these shows were taken off the air, they were able to produce some successful actors that can be seen on many of our favorite prime-time television programs, including some major current hits like Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Following. Here are some soap opera actors that made the move from daytime to prime-time.
