Mistresses Recap: Third-Party Politics

9 July 2015 7:25 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Oh, if the walls of Maison Sur Mer — the home-furnishings oasis owned by Mistresses‘ April Malloy — could talk. They’ve already seen a ne’er-do-well husband fake his death; an ab-tastic FBI agent deliver an oversized canvas that, by all scientific measures, should’ve burst into flames from the glistening bodies (and acrylic colors) that painted it; and some light blackmail, adultery and overzealous day drinking for good measure.

True Detective Premiere Recap: I Was Not Caught, Though Many Tried

21 June 2015 6:59 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Remember when being a TV cop meant being a cool badass instead of being an emotionally frayed burlap sack of misery?

It’s not hard to imagine Officer Frank Poncherello shaking his head in shame at True Detective‘s men and women of California law enforcement, so woeful are their backstories, so apparent is their sadness. The Season 2 opener does little more than introduce these featured cops and tee up the crime that kicks off their shared narrative — and that’s compelling enough to make you want to come back next week — but oof, is it tough to witness so much unhappiness. »
