UK Trailer for Mat Whitecross' Doc 'Supersonic' About the Band Oasis

"A brilliant blast of 90's nostalgia." A trailer has debuted for a new rock doc called Supersonic, all about the band Oasis. Their song "Wonderwall" is one of the most popular songs in movies and trailers, but this doc goes way beyond that to tell their entire life story. From the director of Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, and Asif Kapadia and James Gay-Rees, producers of the doc Amy, comes this in-depth look at the music of the Manchester-based rock band. This doc also reminds me of The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years, which is funny because this trailer has a quote referencing how they were "one of the biggest bands since the Beatles." This looks like it might be a great doc even for those who aren't fans of the band. Enjoy. Here's the official UK trailer (+ poster) for Mat Whitecross' doc Supersonic, direct from

Liam Gallagher Has A New (Old) Band With No Name

Earlier this year, something inevitable happened: Oasis was finally torn asunder. Noel Gallagher and his brother Liam, who made up the core of one of the biggest bands in the history of England, had always had a contentious relationship, often squabbling in public and undercutting each other in interviews. They managed to survive through seven studio albums, a handful of genuine worldwide hits (including "Wonderwall" and "Live Forever") and more than a few drug problems. Now that Noel has left to pursue other interests, Liam announced that he will continue performing with the remainder of the band. Noel's future remains uncertain, though there are so many former members of Oasis that he could still recruit a band and reasonably call it "Oasis."

The name will be free, because Liam announced that his new old band would not be using it. But what will this new project be called? Liam hasn't announced anything yet,

Noel Gallagher Says He's Left Oasis

Oasis founder and frontman Noel Gallagher has left his brother Liam and their band after a bitter backstage brawl outside Paris on Friday night. In a statement posted on the band's Web site just hours after the band failed to appear at the Rock en Seine in St. Cloud, Gallagher, apologizing "to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan," announced: "It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight ... I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer." The band was scheduled to headline
