One of my favorite Inspector shorts, with a last line that I consider hilarious
11 October 2009 | by (Tucson AZ) – See all my reviews

I remember watching this short years ago and the basic plot and last line have stayed with me ever since, though I couldn't recall the title. A couple of years ago, 17 of the 34 Inspector Clouseau cartoon shorts were released on DVD, but this short wasn't included.

Last year, a box set composed mostly of material I already had, but with the other 17 Inspectors and the Roland and Ratfinks on two new discs got released and I finally broke down and bought it, even though I already owned roughly 75-80% of the DVDs. Mild spoilers follow: The Inspector has a feeling of impending doom, because strange accidents keep happening all around him, which we see as he tells his troubles to a psychiatrist. He wonders if the accidents are related to his latest assignment-to carry around a valuable jewel.

He successfully gets his assignment completed and then comes the denouement, which I won't reveal. I love the end, though your mileage may vary.

The set's worth getting if you don't have the rest of the discs already. Recommended.
